PROMINENT HOLY PLACES OF ZIARAT IN IRAN

Iran has been a historically attractive place for tourists from all over the world. Iran was called Persia, and the religion followed here was Zoroastrianism, but with the period of time, Islam invaded Persia and Islam started to spread in the region. 2nd caliphate of Islam invaded Persia for the first time and soon after Persia became significant for the Muslims. Many rulers of Umayyad dynasty and Abbasid dynasty made Iran their ruling nation. Prominent rulers like Mamoon Abbasi were ruling from Persia, and he called Imam Reza as for becoming his successor. Due to which many places were attributed with Imam Reza as and also with his sister Bibi Fatima bint e Imam Musa Kazim as. Many religious scholars were born in this region who made a tremendous contribution to medical, astronomy, and other fields as well.

Iran became a holy place with the passage of time with visits of holy people. The government of Iran has maintained these holy places as their cultural and Islamic heritage. According to the study, nearly 5 million tourists from all over the world visits different holy places in Iran. Some of the holy places are being discussed in this below:

Holy Places in Iran:

1. Shrine of Imam Raza as (Mashhad)

Imam Ali Raza as is prominent 8th Imam of Islam. He was called to Iran by Mamoon (Caliph of Abbasid Dynasty) for becoming his successor. Imam Raza spends his last days in Khurasan and was martyred by Mamoon himself. Imam Raza as was buried in Tos (now Mashhad). Millions of zaireen visit his shrine in Mashhad which is a prominent holy place in Iran.

2. Shrine of Bibi Masuma Qom sa (Qom)

Bibi Fatima sa popularly known as Masuma Qom sa was the sister of Imam Ali Raza as and daughter of Imam Musa Kazim as. She traveled from Medina for his brother and finally reached Qom, which was a small town at that time. She spent 17 days total over there and died due to the illness. Bibi Masuma Qom sa was buried and now is a holy place for Muslims. People from all over the world visit her shrine to remember the sacrifice of Bibi for his brother, Imam Ali Raza as.

3. Shrine of Shah Abdul Azim (Tehran)

Hazrat Shah Abdul Azim was fifth generation descendant of Imam Hassan ibn Ali as. He lived in the era of Imam Muhammad Taqi as and was a special companion to him. Abdul Azim migrated to land of Ray (present-day Tehran). He beared all sort of hardships, but he was succeeded in his journey. Due to many reasons, Mutawakil Abbasi (Abbasid Dynasty) tried to kill him but failed. He passed away and was buried in Ray (present Tehran).

4. Qadamgah Imam Ali Raza, Neyshabur

Qadamgah Imam Ali Raza as is another religious attraction for zaireen. It is present in the city of Neyshabur 110 km away from Mashhad. According to history Imam Ali Raza as offered prayers near the springs where the impressions of His feet were appeared, and still they can be seen. People visit this place for ziarat and drink water from the springs.

5. Jamkaran Mosque

Jamkaran mosque is one of the famous places in Iran. It is situated 6 km away from city of Qom. It is considered that Imam Mehdi ajf along with Hazrat Kizhar met Sheikh Hassan bin Muthlih Jamkarani. He was ordered to build the mosque here. Tuesday night is considered as it said that “the day the vision appeared and therefore, the day of the week that (Imam), although invisible, takes request.” In recent years, overseers of the Jamkaran compound have become sensitive to its foreign images and have restricted foreign press from the main mosque and well.

6. City Of Kashan

Kashan is one of the oldest city of Iran. It is a burial place for about 300 plus Imam Zadeh. One of the prominent Imam Zadeh i.e., Sultan Ali ibn Imam Baqir as is buried in the city of Kashan. Some Shiite scholars mentioned his virtues and supernatural powers.
